The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, known as APEDA, works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to promote exports of scheduled agricultural products. Exporters of these products, such as fruits, vegetables, processed foods, cereals and certain animal products, need a Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) from APEDA. The RCMC is needed to export scheduled products and to claim benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

Vibence helps you apply correctly. Qualified professionals from the Vibence partner network confirm that your products fall under the APEDA schedule, check that your Import Export Code is active, prepare the online application with supporting documents and track it until the RCMC is issued. We also explain what you must do after registration, such as filing periodic export returns and renewing on time.

Who this is for

APEDA Registration (RCMC): FAQs

Who needs APEDA registration?

Exporters of products listed in the APEDA schedule generally need an APEDA RCMC. These include many fresh and processed agricultural products, such as fruits, vegetables, cereals, processed foods, floriculture products and certain animal products. Both manufacturer exporters and merchant exporters need it. If you are unsure whether your product is covered, our partner professionals will check the schedule for you.

Is an Import Export Code needed before APEDA registration?

Yes. An active Import Export Code from DGFT is required before you can apply for APEDA registration, because the RCMC is linked to your IEC. Your IEC details should also be up to date, including the annual DGFT update. If you do not yet have an IEC, Vibence can help you obtain one first and then apply for APEDA registration.

How long is APEDA registration valid?

An APEDA RCMC is generally valid for five years from the date of issue, after which it must be renewed to continue exporting scheduled products and claiming related benefits. During this period, registered exporters are expected to keep their details current and file periodic export returns as required. Vibence can help you track the renewal date.

What is the fee for APEDA registration?

APEDA charges a registration fee for issuing the RCMC, plus applicable GST, which is paid directly to APEDA at the time of application. The Vibence professional fee for preparing and filing your application is quoted separately once we understand your business and products. We confirm all costs before starting work.

What happens after I get the APEDA RCMC?

Once registered, you can export scheduled products and apply for APEDA schemes where eligible. You must keep your registration details updated, file periodic export returns as APEDA requires, and renew the RCMC before it expires. Some products may also need additional certificates, such as phytosanitary or quality certificates, depending on the destination country.
