Every GST-registered business must file returns, whether or not it has made sales in that period. Regular taxpayers report outward supplies in GSTR-1 and pay tax through GSTR-3B, monthly or quarterly depending on turnover and the scheme chosen. Late filing attracts late fees and interest, and repeated gaps can lead to blocked e-way bills or cancellation. Accurate returns also matter for your customers, because their input tax credit depends on what you report.
Qualified professionals from the Vibence partner network take care of the whole cycle. They collect your sales and purchase data in Excel, Tally or any accounting software, reconcile input tax credit with what your suppliers have reported and prepare GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for your approval before filing. A dedicated GST professional works with you each period. For months with no activity, a low-cost nil return plan keeps you compliant.

GST Return Filing: FAQs
Which GST returns does a regular business need to file?
Most regular taxpayers file GSTR-1, which reports outward supplies, and GSTR-3B, a summary return used to pay tax and claim input tax credit. These are filed monthly, or quarterly under the QRMP scheme for eligible smaller taxpayers. Many businesses also file an annual return in GSTR-9. Composition taxpayers follow a different set of returns.
What are the due dates for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B?
For monthly filers, GSTR-1 is generally due by the 11th of the following month and GSTR-3B by the 20th. Quarterly filers under the QRMP scheme have different dates, and GSTR-3B deadlines for them are staggered by state. The government sometimes extends due dates, so the professional handling your account confirms the applicable date each period.
What happens if I file GST returns late?
Late filing attracts a late fee for each day of delay and interest on any tax paid late. Nil returns attract a lower late fee. Unfiled returns can also block e-way bill generation, affect your customers' input tax credit and, if they continue for a long period, lead to cancellation of your registration by the department.
Do I need to file GST returns if I had no sales?
Yes. A registered taxpayer must file returns for every period, even when there are no sales, purchases or tax liability. In such cases a nil return is filed. Vibence's Nil return plan covers monthly nil GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for months with no sales, purchases, credit or debit notes, or e-way bills.
How is the number of entries counted in a plan?
Entries generally mean the invoices, credit notes, debit notes and similar records that must be processed for your returns in a month. Each plan covers a set number of entries a month. If your volume regularly exceeds the plan limit, the professional will suggest a higher plan or a custom quote. The billing period for each plan is confirmed in your quote.
